Universal Studios Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 25

The local party city isn't the only place to put out their Halloween decorations. This week Universal Studios in Orlando prepares for their annual Halloween Horror Nights. It's a milestone this time, now tallying up their 25th year. I remember going to the one they held in 2009 with my dad years ago. Its a huge advantage living a 40 minute drive to a Six Flag Great America, I can stop by in October during their Fright Fest. But after going to one of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, Fright Fest suddenly began to seem like the Halloween section of a Walgreen's.
Guests come for the late night entertainment and slightly shortened attraction lines, but all the rage is really the haunted house mazes the park sets up. Each maze has a certain theme and immersive atmosphere, like taking a stride through a horror film. Universal has already revealed their selection of mazes and are now selling tickets from September 18th to Halloween. This year's maze roster includes;

The Walking Dead: The Living and the Dead

If you like zombies or having Rick Grimes yell in your face like a lunatic, then this is the maze for you. The Walking Dead has been the flagship for Halloween Horror Nights for nearly two years now. This house takes guests through scenes seemingly ripped directly from the show, characters also making appearances. I'm not a regular viewer of the series as I prefer to stick to the classic zombies of George Romero, but I can assume that it would be a real treat for fans of the show alike.

Freddy vs. Jason

In the past, Universal Studios had a Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th maze. Now they're bringing the slashers, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees together in a maze based on the monster mash Freddy vs. Jason. Guests will find themselves stuck in the crossfire in the battle between these two cinematic legends. Whoever wins, we lose.

Insidious

*Spoilers* In the climax of the movie, Insidious, a father must step into the land of the dead to save his son. Now, guests will be able to venture into the same land. Think of it as Halloween Town from The Nightmare Before Christmas, but with more natives with violent streaks.

The Purge

Returning to the maze roster once again is The Purge, more based of the first film then the second. Guests roam in a house under lockdown during the annual purge, a period of time where all crime is legalized, even murder. Dozens of "vigilantes' as they are called, swarm around all hoping to get a taste of that sweet thing called anarchy.

An American Werewolf in London

After John Landis made people laugh with Animal House, he decided to show his dark side with An American Werewolf in London. Considered one of the best werewolf movies and one of the most popular houses that Universal Studios has to offer. Guests can relive scenes from the movies, in the victim's point of view, of course.

Jack Presents: 25 Years of Monsters and Mayhem

The evolution of scares in its finest form. Monsters and Mayhem is what it promises and delivers with classic monsters such as Dracula and Frankenstein from the golden age of horror to the slashers of the 70s and 80s to the modern era. Special guests appearance also include monster mascots of previous Horror Nights like Jigsaw, Chucky, and the Wolfman.

Run: Blood, Sweat, and Fear

Sometimes Universal takes it upon themselves to make up their own them for a haunted house. Run is an instant of such. The premise is that you (the guest) are selected for a game show in which you must simply survive whilst being stalked by assassins. This house is most likely based of The Running Man, the Stephen King novel and the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.

Asylum in Wonderland 3D

One of the easiest children's story to twist into a nightmarish setting is Alice in Wonderland, it gives you plenty of edge to work with. Universal's twisted variation on the fantasy land aims to drive you mad as a hatter with its 3D presentation of fear inducing images. Maybe it would be best to not follow the white rabbit.

Body Collectors-Recollection

During one of the previous years, Universal introduced Body Collectors to their program. Taking guests through Shadybrook Asylum where the insane collect human body parts for purposes unknown. Now, they return once more with Recollection. Those who thought they had the house figured out before will think again as it has been completely renovated.
